Once Upon a Claim by Chantal Roberts | Book Review

Short Synopsis:

For this witty, informative book, insurance expert Chantal M. Roberts, CPCU, AIC, RPA begged, borrowed, or bought her wings and wand, and through this collection of tales, rhymes, and fables, she helps you understand the world of property and casualty insurance and claims.

With a touch of whimsy and a dash of humor, Roberts makes learning about insurance and claims a fun and engaging experience. She’s turned what could the most be dry and boring reading of all time into a delightful experience. This book is a must-read for anyone who wants to be a better advocate for themselves and navigate the complex world of insurance and claims with confidence.

My Review:

Insurance is quite a common term for all of us. And we all have insurance for some or other things like car, health, property, business, and so on. Yet most of us don’t know its deep and hidden terms and conditions. The world of insurance is legally complicated for laymen. This book – Once Upon a Claim by Chantal Roberts – is an insightful yet entertaining resource on insurance. The way this professional field is covered with the help of fables, illustrations, stories, and knowledge pointers – this book simply enhances the reading experience to a new level. This was a new thing to experience and I would appreciate Roberts for her unique concept.

Another great aspect of the book is its short chapters and proper classification of the knowledge. First we see a fable, then follows moral of the story, insurance terms and their simplified explanations. Before picking up this book, I had certain doubts about adjuster and carrier but kudos to Chantal’s power of simplifying insurance jargons, I didn’t take much time to understand that these two terms play an indispensable role in claims. What sorts of insured and claims are and how each one differs as per the situations, that is all expounded with a beauty of brilliance of the author’s knowledge about the subject.

I am sure no other book even comes close to it for insurance subscribers like us who remain confused by the complex and overwhelming world of insurance claims. Chantal Roberts expertly covers a wide range of insurance products and services and claims, giving readers a comprehensive grasp of insurance, be it for property, auto, liability issues, etc.

The author made every insurance allied subject a fun learning by sprinkling dose of humour and familiar fables from ancient times. It is like blending ancient wisdom in the new-age insurance principles where claims don’t come up straight. From this book I can now proudly say that understanding insurance policy means understanding the claims settlement. This book is filled with pin point lessons on insurance, especially if you are struggling with the nature of claims.
